3. Switch it on when you land

After landing at JKIA, turn on the eSIM line and data roaming for it, following the provider's instructions. Test the connection before you leave the airport, so you can still go to an official SIM shop if it does not work.

A travel eSIM is not M-PESA

A data eSIM does not give you M-PESA. For M-PESA, register a local Safaricom line with your passport at an official Safaricom shop.

A travel eSIM gives you mobile data only. It does not come with a Kenyan phone number or SMS, so it cannot be used for M-PESA.
M-PESA needs a local Safaricom line. Register one with your passport at an official Safaricom shop and ask staff to switch on M-PESA.
If you do not register M-PESA, carry some Kenyan shillings. Airport ATMs and card payments cover most tourist costs.
